Leading Digital Technology Across Industrial Revolution

Core Research Areas

1. Modeling & Simulation

To analyze operations and receive insight into complex processes, models that contain key parameters of the physical model are developed. Simulation of the computer model will represent the real-world phenomenon or systems and used to predict and visualise the behavior of the simulated systems. For example, in manufacturing it can be used to model each step in manufacturing process for overall performance optimization.

2. Mixed Reality & HCI

Mixed reality is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations, where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is a discipline concerned with the study, design, construction and implementation of human- centric interactive computer systems. Improvements in HCI technology can lead to enhanced Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) experiences by providing more natural and efficient ways for a user to interact with a real or virtual environment.

3. System Integration & IOT

System Integration is an essential core element in Industrial Revolution 4.0. System Integration enables multiple systems to work cohesively in a coordinated and unified manner. Data and command can be acquired and dispatched through connected devices via the Internet of Things (IIOT) and Cloud Based Systems. In IIR4.0 extensive research are done to capitalize advances in IOT, Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and Cloud based applications via horizontal and vertical system interactions to provide solution for the research and education community, industrial players and the general public.

4. Intelligent Data Analytics

Intelligent Data Analytics is related to research and applications of Artificial Intelligence techniques in data analysis to generate analytical result and insight from the flood of data. The field of Intelligent Data Analytics is very critical in the era of IR4.0 as it focuses on handling massive, heterogeneous, and dynamic volumes of information by extracting, classifying and analyzing data through the use of software and advanced technologies. The research field includes application domains of Big Data (BD) and Big Data Analytics (BDA): analytical reasoning, artificial intelligence, data mining, data modelling, data/information/knowledge representation, knowledge discovery, intelligence analysis, machine intelligence, pattern analysis, sentiment analysis, social computing, and information retrieval.
